…Neighbours demand justice
By…Adebayor
IBADAN residents were thrown into fear and outrage on Saturday, May 23, following a shocking attack on an elderly couple, 90-year-old Solomon Ayoola and his 85-year-old wife, in their own home.
The victims were reportedly traumatised when unidentified assailants allegedly forced their way into the family residence in the Oyo State capital.

Eyewitnesses said the intruders assaulted the couple and caused significant damage to household property, leaving the neighbourhood in shock.
Despite the violence, no money or valuables was reportedly taken, raising questions about the motive behind the attack.
Some residents speculated that the incident could be linked to an ongoing family dispute, though details remain unclear as investigations continue.
Neighbours described the incident as “disturbing and unfortunate,” particularly given the advanced age of the couple.
The neighbours have therefore, urged security agencies to act swiftly, conduct a thorough investigation, and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
“This is frightening. How could anyone target such elderly people? We need answers,” one resident lamented.
The incident has reignited concerns about community safety, with residents calling for increased vigilance and protection for vulnerable individuals.
Local authorities are yet to release an official statement, and police efforts to comment on the attack have so far been unsuccessful.
Meanwhile, friends and extended family of the Ayoolas have reportedly rushed to offer support, emphasizing the need for healing and justice. (Ends)
