The Special Adviser to His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Political Matters, Hon. Surveyor Jetruth Segu Oni, has distributed palliatives to Muslim women, widows, and the less privileged in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Hon. Jetruth Segu Oni, popularly known as “Chop and Chop,” stated that the gesture was part of his personal contribution aimed at reaching out to his constituents and easing the burden of the Sallah celebration within the community.
According to him, many families often face difficulties during festive periods and may not have enough resources to celebrate comfortably. He explained that the palliative distribution was designed to improve the welfare of the people, noting that government alone cannot meet every demand due to numerous competing responsibilities.
He appreciated His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Chief Servant of Kogi State, for his unwavering commitment to the welfare and well-being of the people of the state. He assured the beneficiaries that the exercise would continue on a regular basis and appealed to those who were unable to benefit in the current phase to remain patient and understanding for subsequent distributions.
Hon. Jetruth also commended Governor Ododo for his proactive efforts in tackling insecurity across the state, particularly in the area, stressing that the security situation has improved significantly. He urged the governor to sustain the momentum until criminal activities are completely eradicated from the area.
He further called on the people to continue supporting the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in order to enjoy more dividends of democracy.
Speaking during the event, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters and illustrious son of the area, Commodore Jerry Omodara (Rtd), praised Hon. Jetruth Segu Oni, alias “Chop and Chop,” for consistently remembering the people through humanitarian gestures.
He noted that the palliative outreach marked about the third or fourth time Hon. Jetruth had embarked on similar interventions for the benefit of the people. Commodore Omodara described him as a dedicated and selfless grassroots politician and encouraged him not to relent in giving back to society, emphasizing that such blessings come from God.
He also used the occasion to commend Governor Ododo for the peaceful conduct of the various primary elections held across the state and advised youths and other residents to remain law-abiding and channel their energies into productive ventures.
Also speaking at the event, Hon. Alfred Bello, a former member of the House of Assembly representing the area, commended the initiative behind the palliative distribution and urged beneficiaries to make good use of the items distributed. He equally praised the orderly conduct displayed by the people during the exercise.
The First Lady of Kabba/Bunu LGA and wife of the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Mrs. Grace Dare, appreciated Hon. Jetruth Segu Oni for remembering Muslim women, widows, and the less privileged in the area. She prayed for God’s continued protection, blessings, and increase upon him.
Similarly, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the House of Assembly from Kabba/Bunu Constituency, Hon. Barr. Boluromi Emmanuel, commended the gesture and appreciated Hon. Jetruth Oni for reaching out to the Muslim community and vulnerable groups during the Sallah celebration.
He assured the people that if elected in the forthcoming election, he would complement such humanitarian efforts alongside his legislative responsibilities.
Other dignitaries present at the event included the APC Women Leader in Kabba/Bunu LGA, Mrs. Olowosegun Mary, Hon. Funsho Otu, among others, who all spoke in support of the programme and prayed for God to grant Hon. Jetruth more strength and resources to continue impacting lives positively.
The highlight of the programme was the distribution of palliatives to the beneficiaries.
